This will happen if:
- The sender is using an iOS device connected to the Internet &
- The sender’s iMessage is enabled &
- Receive device (Your iPad) connected to the Internet and you have logged in to your iPad using your AppleID and you have also enabled your iMessage.
Why?
- Because, unless you said to Apple to do other way, Apple will try to send any text message as an iMessage through Internet and not as a normal text message (SMS/MMS) unless the receiver:
- Has no iOS device, or
- His/Her device was Off at that time, or
- His/Her iMessage was not enabled on that time.
How to stop it:
- Disable iMessage on your iOS device, or
- Use another AppleID for logging in to your iPad, or
- Remove your phone number:
